How to make permanent makeup caps or tips fit to the right depth when there are so many different permanent makeup suppliers? We would like to discuss with you a quick fix method that is simple and easy. Like most permanent makeup suppliers, we do not produce our own needles, caps and sleeves. There are many different manufacturers that produce standard size needles and accessories that may not be as standard as we all hope them to be. The needles will always fit right, where we have issues are the sleeves and caps. Since the sleeves and caps are made from a copied mold, usually by lost wax casting, the end product is rarely the exact replica of the original. The end result are sleeves and caps that are either too loose or too tight, usually too loose. We are going to address the problem of the caps fitting too loose on sleeves since is by far more common and more problematic than fitting too tight. The cap must form a tight fit on the sleeve to prevent itself from flying off. Here is a quick fix:
Take your cap and view it from the opening that slides onto the sleeve. Notice it generally forms a circle but there are points around the circle where it angles. The caps weakest point is the points where it angles. What we are going to do is use our pointer finger and our thumb to give the cap a good squeeze until the cap is flattened out.
We will need to squeeze the entire length of the cap so we compress the maximum amount of surface area so hold the cap length wise as pictured. Rotate the cap so that when you squeeze you will be bending the cap from the angles. Give the cap a firm squeeze and hold it for 5 seconds.
After compressing the cap, you will notice that the insertion end of the cap will be noticeably flattened. The cap will now insert tight onto the sleeve.
Adjust the cap as needed to provide the correct needle depth.
We now have a fitted cap that you can adjust as much as you want without worrying the cap will be too loose.
